<text>The campaign button with the name Church on it and year 1976 has little history with it. Church had served as Deputy Mayor of Springfield between 1986 and 1995. We don't know if Church ran for office in 1976 or had a family member who had. We do know that he worked as curator for the Paul Findley Congressional Office Museum and Archival Collection at Illinois College in Jacksonville. Church had volunteered for Findley's campaign during the seventies. Findley served the 20th District of Illinois in the U.S. House from 1961 to 1983. Another button with the colors of red, white and blue and the names Brooks, Willkie and Green goes all the way back to 1940. This was a pinback button. Wendell Willkie received the Republican Party nomination in 1940 for President, He lost the election to President Roosevelt, Illinois had all 29 electoral votes go to Roosevelt too. Willkie has no connection to Illinois; he is buried in Indiana. The others, Wayland Brooks ran for U.S. Senator and Dwight Green for governor, Illinois. The accompanying buttons with photos may have been of these men. </text>

It has photos with the face of each. "Continued Prosperity" is positioned at the top. The theme was important because it carried the values of the outgoing President Harry Truman. It was something many Americans also used in their description of the post war years. Stevenson II was the 31st Governor of Illinois, and was born in Los Angeles. He ran for President in 1952 and 1956, but he was defeated both times by Dwight D. Eisenhower. Stevenson's running mate for 1952 was John C. Sparkman which is positioned at the top of the poster right of Stevenson. Sparkman served in the US Senate and House of Representatives from 1937 to 1979. He was from Alabama. Sherwood Dixon, also on the poster, ran for governor on the ticket for Illinois but lost. Others on the poster included Herbert C. Paschen and Edward Barrett. </text>

<text>Front page of Kansas City Star dated July 28, 1974. Without the story telling sheets, its difficult to tell what part of this page was important to David Farrell or was connected to Illinois. In a recent article from the State Journal Register, Farrell explained that he used to live in Washington not far from Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. The front page of the Kansas City Journal read "Impeachment Article Voted." Like many Americans who supported President Nixon, shock of the House Judiciary Committee's recommendation and vote of 27-11 to impeach thus turning it over to the House of Representatives for formal action cause us to remember and document it as history as with Farrell who was perhaps in Kansas City that day it happened. This article discusses the charges of obstruction of justice brought upon Nixon. One of the committee members Representative McClory, according to this article, was an Illinois Republican from the 13th district who voted against impeachment. He had served in office from 1963 to 1983 between the 12th and 13th districts but had a law practice in Washington D.C. Perhaps Farrell knew McCory. </text>
