St. Vincent de Paul Church
St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church was built in 1911 by the Lithuanian American community. The church hosted many clubs, social events, and was a cornerstone of the Lithuanian American community. The items here are pictures taken within the church and an organ pipe that was used in church services.
Though the church closed in the 1970s following the natural death of a priest, the Lithuanian community is still here and alive in Springfield. You can read more about the church here, on lithspringfield.com. This is a website dedicated to the history of Lithuanians in Springfield Illinois, maintained by the local Lithuanian community.
