The People
Pictured here are members of the Lithuanian American community themselves. These pictures were all taken during the early 20th century. Lithuanian immigrants arrived in America impoverished, fleeing oppressive Empires in Europe. With new found freedom and hard work they embraced their new country and found the American dream. The photos above includes pictures of families, weddings, a home they built, and an Lithuanian American soldier, people who found a full life in America. Today the Lithuanian American community has raised historic markers and collected the stories and artifacts from their past to display today. Their ability to succeed and preserve their past is what allows us to look back on it all today in this exhibit.
