USPS Pin
Pictured here are three pins awarded by the United States Postal Service. Brought in by Julie Newby, these pins were given to her mother Betty over the course of her career with USPS. The leftmost pin was awarded for 15 years of service, and the middle pin was for 25 years. Julie’s mother began working for USPS in 1977, so these two pins would have been acquired in 1992 and 2002 respectively. The pin on the right was given to Betty for having 500 hours of banked sick leave. Interestingly, no one would be receiving a pin like this today because companies no longer allow employees to roll over their sick leave hours. These pins are a great example of being rewarded for length of employment and dedication. One could imagine Betty wearing one of these to show off her company’s recognition of her service (or her perfect health!)
